More Funds Needed For Uniforms For Booker T. Band

Officials of the Band Mothers Club of Booker T. Washington High School announced Monday that a drive to raise funds for the purchase of new uniforms for the band has fallen far short of the proposed goal of $2,100.  The drive has been underway for at least two weeks and the first report last weekend showed only $204.50 has been obtained.

The club plans to raise enough money to buy 35 new uniforms for the band and at least $2,100 will be needed.

In making its first report, the club voiced its appreciation to those who have contributed and for those who have attended these and other functions in which proceeds went into the band fund.  Personal letters of thanks will be sent out to those who have contributed and to those who give later on, officials said.

The first public appearance of the Booker T. Washington Band will be at a district Masonic meet¬ing at Texarkana on October 3 and the first home performance is set for Thursday, October 7.

All persons interested in con¬tributing to the uniform drive may contact any teacher at BTW High School.

B.T.W. High To Sponsor Play School

Parents are invited to visit the school June 7 at 10 a.m. to see the arrangement and bring the child's equipment so that it can be placed in order by the opening day.

Footnote: from  my research the school was not called Booker T until the late thirties Until that time the media just call it
